Video Contest Instructions

Videos need to be uploaded to https://www.hightail.com/u/paddlewoo by the 14th of August. Feel free to do it earlier if youvideo is ready. It will not be shared until the Monday the 24th of August. Our media partner for the event is Standup Journal so there will be solid exposure to SUP surfing fans.
You own your video fully. To be eligible for the contest, it can not be published before the event goes finishes. It is ok to promote your sponsors in the video. The videos will be released on a PaddleWoo channel (probably vimeo so that music isn’t dropped).
There are two components to voting, Social Shares, Likes, Views will comprise 30% of the score. The other part of the score will be from judging. This is judging on the surfing, not on video production (though I am sure video quality will help in the social aspect). Our goal is to have the best surfing performance win the contest.
The prize purse is $3,000 and the money will be paid via paypal or wire transfer immediately following the 7 day contest. 1st price receives $2,000, 2nd – $700 and 3rd – $300. We also have a prize (1 week in Costa Rica, all expenses minus airfare) for the top amateur, but it looks like all entries are pros or semi-pro so I am trying to figure out how to deal with that… I am open to ideas on where we draw the line. Maybe it is if your main sponsor is paying salary…
When the contest has concluded we will put the videos together into a surf movie and release it for free. Please note that you own your video 100%. You are free to release it via your own social network and channels when the contest has ended which will be September 1st.
